On behalf of The Council of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Ministry of Health in Kuwait, I am honored to invite you to the upcoming 25th Kuwait OBGYN conference held between 9th - 11th March 2023.
The conference is organized by The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Jaber Al-Ahmed Hospital. It includes a three-day scientific program that aims to explore and exchange “ Recent Updates and future prospects “and to promote excellence in the clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. It is an excellent opportunity for all obstetricians and gynecologists in Kuwait and the region to meet international experts and connect with regional and local specialists. It includes plenary sessions, panel discussions, surgical demonstrations, Questions and answers, and research papers. It covers different aspects, including COVID infection impact on pregnant women and their newborns in Kuwait, recent advances and updates in fetal surgeries, maternal and fetal medicine, gynae-oncology, minimally invasive gynecological surgery, gynecological robotic surgery, urogynecology, adolescent gynecology, fertility preservation, and related medical ethics.
The pre-conference workshop is a 2-day training course in gynecological ultrasound. The workshop provides a comprehensive program and interactive discussion to provide competence in the female pelvic ultrasonographic examination. It’s led by Professor Lil Valentin from Lund University in Sweden.
Both events offer continuing medical education (CME) opportunities providing up-to-date and evidence-based information in healthcare and clinical practice.

Wattiez is the Chairman of the European Academy of Gynecological Surgery, the founder and director of the Winners Education program as well as the founder of MIS Academy. Pr. Wattiez is recognized as a pioneer of laparoscopy in the OB-GYN realm.”
Dusko Ilic graduated Medical School and Molecular Biology at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and obtained Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He worked in the USA in both Academia (Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of California San Francisco, Research Consultant at the Dermatology Services, Veteran Affairs Medical Center, San Francisco) and industry (Director of R&D in StemLifeLine, CA, USA, and a technical co-founder and advisor to VitroLabs (www.vitrolabsinc.com). Currently, he is a Professor of Stem Cell Science at the King’s College London and Academic Chair for Student-led Sustainability Innovation at the Circle U (www.circle-u.eu). The focus of his work is translational aspects of human reproduction, stem cell research, and development of sustainable technologies.
Prof. Greg Ryan is a perinatologist at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. He is head of the University of Toronto Fetal Medicine program, based at Mount Sinai.
He is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, University of Toronto & is cross-appointed to the Department of Medical Imaging.
He trained in Dublin, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Toronto, Glasgow & London, UK. He came on staff in Toronto in 1992.
His main interests are in the areas of high-risk pregnancies, obstetric ultrasound, fetal anomalies, monochorionic (identical) twin complications and fetal therapy, including in utero laser treatment to resolve twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), fetal chest and bladder shunting, fetoscopic tracheal occlusion for severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), fetal spina bifida surgery and cardiac interventions, all firsts in Canada.
Dr. Ryan has consulted nationally and internationally. He has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Hélder Ferreira (MD, PhD, MBA) is the Head of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Unit of Centro Hospitalar Universitário in Porto, Portugal. He is also a Professor of Gynaecology at the University of Porto and a holder of two fellowship programs in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery with Prof. Arnaud Wattiez (France-2009) and Prof. Joerg Keckstein (Austria-2011). He is Executive Board Member of ESGE (European Society of Gynaecological Surgery). He is president of the Portuguese Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgeries (endometriosis, oncology, genital prolapse and uterovaginal malformations) and robotic gynecological surgery. He is the author of several original articles, book chapters, short communications, and surgical video publications. He lectures in national, regional, and international scientific meetings/congresses. He has performed live interactive surgeries in several countries during conferences and postgraduate courses. In addition, he has tutored many training courses on dry/live-tissue lab and cadaver dissection.
Dr.Jens Erik Walter completed a Urogynecology clinical and research fellowship at Western University in 2007. He established the McGill Fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in 2012 and served as its Program Director for 8 years. He is the Committee Chair of the Mesh Complications Writing Group within the Canadian Society for Pelvic Medicine (CSPM) and head of the mesh complication centre of excellence clinic at Ste Justine Hospital, University of Montreal. He is a member of the Specialty Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the Scientific Committee of the American Urogynecologic Society. His clinical interests reside within the management of early-onset pelvic organ prolapse and mesh complications.
I have accomplished my undergraduate medical training in 2000. Ever since I have continued my professional and postgraduate training in the UK. I have accomplished my PhD devoted to studying effect of cryopreservation on the genome of gametes and embryos back in 2003. My novel work at that time was recognised by several prestigious international awards. During my postgraduate medical training I had opportunity to gain skills in a variety of aspects of women’ health care. I completed the RCOG accredited subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London UK, where I was appointed as a consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. I am a lead for one of the biggest fertility preservation services in this country. Our service offers a unique holistic care to young men and women faced with cancer diagnosis and need to have gonadotoxic treatment. We can provide any and the most advanced currently available options for fertility preservation (egg/embryo freeze, ovarian tissue preservation, testicular tissue/oncotese). Our outcome data for fertility preservation patients has been recognised by International Societies as the longest and most successful in the world.
I am an active member of RCOG, British Fertility Society and The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). I am the lead for Fertility Preservation Training Module of British Fertility Society. I am an editor for Human Fertility.
I have been actively involved in educational events for different oncology groups, BFS across South East of England and the whole of the UK and abroad. I have conceived an idea of a national training day for oncologists and in cooperation with my oncology colleagues and with the support of Association of Cancer Physicians we organised a National Training day “Cancer and Fertility” in October 2019. Following this successful event, we have published a book “Problem Solving in Cancer and Fertility” that received BMA Award in 2022 in Oncology nomination.
Dr. Khalid Al Wadi is a consultant Gynecologic Oncologist, received his Bachelor degree of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King Saud University at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2005). He completed the Obstetrics & Gynecology residency Program from University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada (2013) and got the fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He continued his scientific journey with a fellowship in Gynecology Oncology, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, University of Calgary, Canada (2015).
Dr. Khalid Al Wadi currently holds the position of consultant Gynecologic Oncologist at Women's Specialized Hospital in King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
On the educational side, Dr. Khalid held the position of the Director of Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Training Program at Women's Specialized Hospital, King Fahad Medical City (2016-2020).

Dr. Majed Faden, graduated from Medical school at King Abdulaziz university, Jeddah , Saudi Arabia. Afterward he joined Mcgill university for his residency training and fellowship in maternal fetal medicine. Furthermore, he joined the fetal therapy center at John’s Hopkins University for his fetal therapy and intervention fellowship. Currently, Dr. Faden is a maternal fetal medicine and fetal medicine consultant at King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and he is the maternal fetal medicine fellowship director. Dr. Faden chairs the maternal fetal medicine unit at Thuriah medical center in Riyadh. Dr. Faden, has published on multiple subjects related to fetal medicine and has a special interest in fetal medicine and fetal interventions.
Maxine Semple graduated from University of Brighton, with Applied biology, followed by a BSc in Pharmacology at the University of East London. She then went onto work with one of the largest pharmaceutical companies (Glaxo-Wellcome) as a Quality Assurance Microbiologist, and then a research Scientist in’ Reproductive Toxicology’ before embarking on her career in Clinical Embryology where she was the PGT(Pre-genetic testing) coordinator for the Embryology team at Guys and St Thomas’s Assisted Conception unit. She is currently embarking on her MSc in Leadership within the NHS whilst leading as the Clinical Scientist for the newly established OTC (Ovarian Tissue cryopreservation) service. She is also part of the research team affiliated with King College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’s looking at ways of advancing technologies within Assisted Reproductive Technology.

He is a Vice-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK. He is an Honorary Lecturer, The University of Manchester, UK. Saladin holds a CCT in gynaecological oncology, UK and a proficient robotic surgeon.
Saladin has a special interest in fertility-sparing management for women suffering with gynaecological cancers. His current research interests focus on intraperitoneal delivery of therapeutics and artificial intelligence in health care.
Dr. Suzanne Mac Donald graduated from McGill University Medical School following a Bachelor's Degree in Physiology at the same University. She completed her pediatric residency training at McGill University/Montreal Children's Hospital followed by a 2-year fellowship in adolescent medicine and pediatric emergency medicine at the same site. She is an associate professor of pediatrics in the discipline of adolescent medicine. She is an associate member of McGill’s University’s Institute for Health Sciences Education and the Division Educational leader(McGill Department of Pediatrics) for the division of Adolescent Medicine She spends most of her time doing clinical work and teaching.
Dr. Nada Ibrahim is a Urogynecologist currently working In Jaber Hospital in Kuwait. She obtained her Medical degree at Kuwait University and completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology residency at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where she received the Sir Mortimer Davis resident professionalism award for her outstanding teaching and academic potential. She went on to complete her fellowship in Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Western University in Canada, where she also obtained her Certification in Robotic Gynecology Surgery. Dr Ibrahim graduated from the Program of Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard University and has recently been awarded the Best Surgical Video at the Annual International Continence Society conference for her work.
